About Not Just a Childminder
From the Playroom to Something Bigger

Childminder outside Childminder wellness

Hi, I’m Claire.

I’m an Ofsted‑registered childminder, and I’ve been doing this for over a decade. The early mornings. The constant thinking. The snack prep. The paperwork. The joy. The noise. The mental load.
I love this work but I also know how much it asks of us.
I know what it feels like to be “on” all day. To hold space for children while your brain runs through risk assessments, funding codes, observations, and dinner plans. To care deeply… and still feel tired.
Somewhere along the way, I realised something important:
The most important resource in any setting isn’t the curriculum. It isn’t the toys. It’s the childminder.
And if she’s running on empty, everything feels harder.

Why I Created Not Just a Childminder

I wanted something that reflected the real depth of this job. Not nursery‑bright. Not corporate. Not unrealistic. Something calm. Thoughtful. Grounded. Something that felt like a deep breath at the end of the day. That became the magazine. Then the workshops. And now, a growing platform that supports childminders both professionally and personally.
Because we deserve to feel: Seen. Supported. Understood. Respected. Not “just” anything.

What I Care About

I care about sustainability not just for the planet, but for you.
I talk about nervous systems because we can’t pour from a place of depletion. I teach AI because your evenings shouldn’t disappear into paperwork. I believe slowing down isn’t weakness it’s leadership.
This isn’t about doing less for children. It’s about doing the work in a way that doesn’t cost you your health.

What This Is Becoming

Not Just a Childminder started in my playroom.
It’s growing into:
A seasonal print magazine
Small‑group training
Speaking and industry advocacy
A respected voice within childminding
But at its heart, it’s still simple:
One working childminder saying, “You matter too.”

If You’re Here…
If you’ve been craving something calmer…

If you want practical support without overwhelm…

If you’re ready to feel confident in your work again…
You’re in the right place. Have a look around.

Start with the magazine. Join a workshop. Stay for the community.
You are not just a childminder. And you don’t have to do this alone
