Simple Mother’s Day Gift Children Can Make

Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Mother’s Day gifts do not need to be complicated or perfectly crafted by adults. In fact, the ones parents tend to treasure most are the ones children have genuinely made themselves.
One activity that has always been a huge success in my setting is brown sugar body scrub. It is simple, sensory and very child-led. Children can scoop, pour, mix and smell the ingredients while practising fine motor skills and independence.
The finished scrub is spooned into small jars and taken home as a gift for Mum. It smells delicious, is completely edible, and feels like a proper homemade treat rather than something rushed or overly structured.
The best part is that the recipe is very forgiving. You can add orange zest, cinnamon, lemon or vanilla depending on what you have available, which means every batch smells slightly different.
It is one of those activities where the children have a brilliant time making it and the mums genuinely enjoy receiving it.
Below you will find the simple recipe sheet. Enjoy!

Spring doesn’t need to be complicated.
